DISTRICT 6820 AWARDS
The awards listed below are presented annually to Rotary Clubs and individual
members in District 6820.
Presidential Citations: Each year the Rotary International
President sets the criteria for clubs to earn a Presidential Citation,
based on the Four Avenues of Service. Last year and this years, a fifth
category of emphasis is the Family of Rotary.
Highest Percentage Attendance at Club Meetings Award:
This award is based on club newsletter reports of attendance.
Ottis Snipes Award: Given to the club with the greatest
percentage increase in membership during the year.
Stacy Anderson Award: Given to the club with the greatest
percentage of its members attending District Conference.
Alison Brush Award: Named after Rotary Foundation’s
First Paul Harris Fellow from Laurel, Mississippi, this award is presented
to the club with the highest per capita giving to the Annual Fund during
the Rotary year.
W. A. Price Bulletin Award for the Best Club Newsletter:
This award is judged and presented by the previous year’s winner.
Humanitarian Awards: Given at the District Governor’s
discretion to one or more individuals who have demonstrated a personal
commitment through voluntary efforts to pursue greater service to humanity.
Not necessarily awarded every year.
District Service Citation: This optional award, given
only rarely, is presented to an individual for exceptional and selfless
service to the District. The recipient is selected by unanimous decision
of the District Award Committee.
Best Overall Performance Awards: Sometimes called the
Governor’s Awards because they are based solely on the decision
of the District Governor, these awards are based on careful examination
of the District 6820 clubs’ activities for the year. The Category
I award goes to a club with 51 or more members: the Category II award
goes to a club with 50 or fewer members.
Four-Way Test Award: This award is given at the District
Governor’s discretion to an individual Rotarian who best exemplifies
the application of the Rotary Four-Way Test in his or her life.
